Questions about AVIF to PDF
- Why can't I open or upload my AVIF photos?
- AVIF is much newer than JPEG, and many upload forms, older viewers and office programs still reject it. Putting the photos in a PDF gives you a file every system already accepts.
- Does the photo quality drop?
- The photo is decoded and stored losslessly inside the PDF, so it is not compressed a second time. The PDF can be larger than the AVIF, because AVIF is an unusually efficient format.
- It says the image could not be read. Why?
- Decoding relies on the AVIF support built into the browser. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all read AVIF; an outdated version may not, and updating it fixes the error.
