When an ad blocker, browser setting or work network gets in the way

Find your situation

Match what you see to a cause, then jump to that section below.

• Google Drive’s window asks you to sign in again, stays blank, or says “The API developer key is invalid” — cross-site cookies are blocked: Brave, Safari, incognito, a privacy extension or security software.
• DocuGrip says a provider “couldn’t load on this page” — a blocker, security software or a work network stopped that provider’s script.
• DocuGrip says your browser stopped the window from opening — a pop-up blocker.
• You tapped a DocuGrip link in Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or TikTok and Google sign-in or cloud windows fail — you are in that app’s built-in browser.
• The sign-in page says the security check could not load, or the Send button stays grey — the check is blocked or cannot complete.
• You went to Google, Apple, Microsoft or GitHub to sign in and came back signed out — the sign-in page was blocked, closed, or cookies are off.
• A banner says part of the page didn’t load, or a tool says part of it won’t load after a reload — something is blocking DocuGrip’s own files.
• A tool says it needs a browser feature that is switched off — Lockdown Mode or a strict security setting.
• It works at home but not at work or school — the network or a managed device is filtering it.

The one-minute test

Open the same page in another browser, or in a window with your extensions switched off. If it works there, a setting or an extension in your usual browser is the cause, and the sections below show where to allow docugrip.com.

If you just need the file now, download it from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive and add the saved file here. That path does not depend on any outside service.

Brave

Brave Shields block the cookies Google Drive’s file window needs on other sites. The window then asks you to sign in to Google again, or shows “The API developer key is invalid”. Nothing is wrong with your Google account or with DocuGrip.

1. Click the lion icon at the right of the address bar.
2. Switch Shields off for docugrip.com. This applies to this site only.
3. Choose Google Drive again.

Dropbox, OneDrive and the sign-in check open normally with Shields up. Only Google Drive’s window needs this.

Safari, and every browser on iPhone and iPad

Safari blocks cross-site cookies for every site, and on iPhone and iPad all browsers — Chrome included — use Safari’s engine. Google Drive’s file window may then ask you to sign in again or show an error.

The simplest fix is to download the file from drive.google.com or the Files app and add it here. Dropbox and OneDrive open in their own window and are not affected. We do not suggest switching off Safari’s tracking protection for this; it applies to every site you visit.

Firefox

Enhanced Tracking Protection usually allows Google’s window after you sign in. In Strict mode it may not.

1. Click the shield icon at the left of the address bar.
2. Switch Enhanced Tracking Protection off for this site.
3. Choose Google Drive again.

Microsoft Edge

Edge’s default (Balanced) tracking prevention usually works with DocuGrip. The Strict level can stop Google Drive’s window, and the “Enhance your security on the web” setting can switch off features some tools need.

1. Click the padlock or site icon at the left of the address bar.
2. Set tracking prevention for this site to off, or add docugrip.com as an exception to enhanced security in Settings → Privacy, search, and services.
3. Reload the page and try again.

Opera, Vivaldi, Arc, DuckDuckGo, Samsung Internet and Tor

These browsers have built-in ad, tracker or cookie blocking. When something is blocked, look for a shield, badge or site icon in or next to the address bar and switch its protection off for docugrip.com. Samsung Internet calls it Smart anti-tracking; DuckDuckGo lists it under the shield in the address bar.

Tor Browser blocks cross-site cookies and many scripts on purpose, and sign-in providers often refuse its connections. Use another browser for signing in and for cloud storage; adding a saved file works in Tor.

Ad blockers, privacy extensions and security software

Browser extensions such as uBlock Origin, AdBlock, Adblock Plus, AdGuard, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, Disconnect or NoScript, and the anti-tracker or web-protection features in security software such as Bitdefender, Norton, Kaspersky, Avast, AVG, ESET, McAfee or Malwarebytes Browser Guard, can block the scripts or cookies these windows use. When a script is blocked, DocuGrip tells you that the provider could not load.

Add docugrip.com to the extension’s allow list, or pause it for this site, then reload the page. Nothing on DocuGrip follows you to other sites, so allowing it here changes nothing else.

Pop-up blockers

Dropbox, OneDrive and Google sign-in open their own small window. If your browser blocks it, DocuGrip says so. Choose the provider again — the second click usually opens — or allow pop-ups for docugrip.com in the browser’s site settings.

10Links opened inside Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or TikTok

These apps open links in their own built-in browser. Google does not allow signing in there, and cloud storage windows usually cannot open. DocuGrip points this out on the sign-in form and next to the cloud buttons.

1. Tap the ⋯ menu or the share icon in the app’s browser.
2. Choose Open in browser, Open in Safari or Open in Chrome.
3. Carry on there. The one-time email link also works inside the app.

11Lockdown Mode and strict security settings

Lockdown Mode on iPhone, iPad and Mac switches off some web features to reduce attack surface, and a few DocuGrip tools need one of them. The tool then says a browser feature is switched off instead of failing silently.

Safari lets you exclude a single site from Lockdown Mode in its website settings for docugrip.com. Otherwise use another device for that tool; the other tools keep working.

12Cookies or JavaScript switched off

Signing in needs cookies for docugrip.com: the sign-in form says so when they are off. Allow cookies for docugrip.com in the browser’s site settings, then reload.

The tools need JavaScript. If it is off — in the browser settings or with an extension such as NoScript — the page tells you, and allowing docugrip.com brings everything back.

13When the page itself looks broken

If buttons do nothing, the layout looks unstyled, or DocuGrip shows that part of the page didn’t load, something is blocking DocuGrip’s own files. Reload once. If it happens again, the cause is on this device or network, not on DocuGrip: allow docugrip.com in the blocker or security software, or try another browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

14Private and incognito windows

Chrome’s incognito windows block cross-site cookies by default, so Google Drive’s window can fail there the same way it does in Brave. Use a normal window, or save the file and add it here.

In a private window you are signed out again when you close it; that is expected.

15Work and school devices and networks

A managed browser or a company network can block cloud storage sites, pop-ups or sign-in providers on purpose. If a feature works at home but not at work, that is the likely reason, and only your IT team can change it. Adding a saved file still works.

The same happens with filtering at the network level: DNS filters such as Pi-hole, NextDNS or AdGuard DNS, school web filters, some VPNs and secure web gateways used by companies. Allow the addresses below in the filter, or switch the VPN off for a moment to test.

To send your IT team: the site itself is docugrip.com. Picking files from cloud storage needs accounts.google.com, api.onedrive.com, apis.google.com, dl.dropboxusercontent.com, docs.google.com, login.microsoftonline.com, my.microsoftpersonalcontent.com, onedrive.live.com, www.dropbox.com, www.googleapis.com. Signing in needs yfrenorhspmvgefoojsu.supabase.co, challenges.cloudflare.com, accounts.google.com, appleid.apple.com, login.microsoftonline.com, login.live.com, github.com. Paying needs checkout.stripe.com.

Only the providers you actually use need to be allowed. Google Drive alone, for example, is the accounts.google.com, apis.google.com, docs.google.com and www.googleapis.com entries.

16Still stuck

Try another browser such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox with its extensions off — if it works there, the difference is a setting or an extension in your usual browser. If nothing works on any browser, write to support@docugrip.com with the browser, the device and what you saw, and we will look into it.
