Add the PDF you want as an editable document. It works best on a PDF that was made from a document in the first place — a file exported from Word converts far more cleanly than a photograph of a page.

Nothing to configure. The text, headings and lists are read from the PDF and rebuilt as a .docx file that Word, Pages, LibreOffice and Google Docs all open.

Download the .docx and edit it like any other document. Expect the words to be right and the layout to be approximate: a PDF stores where things are printed, not that a paragraph is a paragraph.
Questions about PDF to Word
- Will the layout look exactly the same?
- Close, but not identical. A PDF records the position of every piece of text, not the structure behind it, so columns, tightly placed tables and unusual spacing are rebuilt by inference. The text itself comes over accurately; the styling is a reconstruction.
- My PDF is a scan and the result is empty. Why?
- Because a scan has no text in it — only a picture of text. Run OCR on it first to add a text layer, then convert. The Word file will then contain real, editable words.
- Is my document uploaded to convert it?
- No. The PDF is read and the Word file is built without an upload. Nothing is transmitted, which for a contract or a CV is the whole point.
