A free alternative to Foxit
The everyday PDF work with nothing to install, nothing to license, and nothing to update.
What is different here
No installer, no licence key, no update prompts. You open a page and the tool is there — on a work laptop you cannot install software on, on a phone, on a machine that is not yours.
Your file is processed without ever being transmitted rather than uploaded, so a locked-down corporate machine is not a problem: nothing needs to leave it.
And once a tool has been run, it works with no network at all.
Where Foxit is still the right choice
If you are deploying to a managed fleet — hundreds of machines, group policy, offline installers, a support contract with a name on it — that is what desktop software is for, and a web page is not a substitute.
Foxit also ships an SDK for embedding PDF handling inside your own product. We are a set of tools for people, not a library for developers.
And for very heavy daily use on huge files, native desktop software will out-run a browser tab. Ours handles more than most people expect — a 635 MB document was measured going through — but it uses your machine, not a purpose-built one.
What you can do right now
Read, merge, split, compress, convert, sign, fill, protect, redact, annotate, OCR a scan, compare two documents, repair a damaged file.
118 tools, nothing to install, and no account needed to start.
How to check any of this yourself
Do not take our word for it, and do not take theirs. These four checks take a minute each and work on any online PDF tool, including this one.
- Open the network tab in developer tools, then run the tool. If your file is being uploaded, you will see it leave. Here, for tools that run in your browser, you will see the page load its own code and nothing carrying your file.
- Turn off your network and run the tool again. If it still works, the processing was never happening on a server.
- Read the privacy page and look for how long files are kept. A service that stores your file will say so, usually with a number of hours.
- Try a file larger than the free limit. Where a limit exists, it usually exists because every file costs the service money.
