Submitting coursework: a PDF your school’s system accepts

Coursework systems check size, pages and text before they accept a file. A scanned appendix or an oversized file can be refused on the day of the deadline.

Step by step

  1. Save the essay or report as PDF so the formatting survives.

  2. Run OCR on scanned pages. Similarity checks read the text, and a scan without it can be refused.

  3. Number the pages.

  4. Combine the report, appendices and cover sheet into one file if the submission takes one.

  5. Compress it under the limit — Turnitin’s is below.

Upload limits that apply

  • Turnitin submissions

    Under 100 MB and under 800 pages per file
