How to do it

  1. 1

    Add your file

Add a scan that has blank pages in it — the back of every single-sided sheet, separator pages, the blanks a document feeder produces automatically.

  2. 2

Set it up the way you want

Nothing to configure. Each page is examined for meaningful content, so a page holding only a faint scanner speck still counts as blank.

  3. 3

    Download the result

Download the result and check the page count. A hundred-page duplex scan of single-sided originals usually comes back as fifty.

Questions about Remove blank pages

What counts as blank?
A page with no meaningful content. Scanner noise, dust specks and faint edge shadows do not save a page from being dropped, because a page that is technically not empty is still empty to a reader.
Could it delete a page I wanted?
A page with real content will not be removed. But check the page count before sending the result on — a deliberately blank page, like a section divider in a printed report, will go too, and only you know it was meant to be there.
Why do scans have so many blank pages?
Because document feeders usually scan both sides. Feed fifty single-sided sheets and you get a hundred pages, half of them empty. That is the case this tool exists for.
