Good to know
- Accepts
- Files at once
- One at a time
- Transmission
- None — nothing is uploaded.
Chain it
Run this tool and the next one back to back — nothing to download in between.
How to do it
- 1
Add your file
Add the protected PDF and be ready to enter its password. This removes protection from a file you can already open; it does not break into one you cannot.
- 2
Set it up the way you want
Enter the password the document was protected with. It is used to decrypt the file and is never transmitted or stored.
- 3
Download the result
Download the unlocked copy. It opens with no password, which is what court filing systems and many document workflows require.
Questions about Unlock PDF
- Can this open a PDF whose password I do not know?
- No, and it is not meant to. This removes protection you can already get past — the common case being a bank statement or payslip that arrives encrypted and has to be filed somewhere that rejects encrypted files.
- Why would I need to remove a password?
- Because a lot of systems refuse encrypted files. Court e-filing rejects them outright, and many document management systems cannot index them.
- Is my password sent to you?
- No. Decryption happens without transmission, and the password is never transmitted either. There is nothing on our side that ever sees the file or the password.
