Questions about Fix PDF accessibility
- What does this actually add?
- Structure tags for headings, paragraphs and lists, so a screen reader can move through the document by heading instead of reading it as one flat block; the document language; the title; and the flag that tells readers the file is tagged. Those four are what turn an unreadable PDF into a navigable one.
- Is my document compliant now?
- No, and no tool can tell you it is. A machine cannot know what an image means, whether a table has header cells, or whether reading order matches the visual layout. What is fixed automatically is fixed; the rest is listed for you, because a green tick over unchecked items is worse than no tick.
- Why is language such a big deal?
- Because a screen reader picks its pronunciation from it. A Turkish document with no language set is read aloud with English rules and becomes gibberish. It is one field, it takes a second, and it is the single largest improvement most documents get.
