How to do it
- 1
Add your file
Add the PDF that needs numbering. Thumbnails show the existing layout so you can see where there is room — a footer that already holds a company name needs a different corner than a blank one.
- 2
Set it up the way you want
Choose where the numbers sit, which number to start from, and which pages get one. Starting from something other than 1 matters more often than it sounds: cover pages, appendices and documents that continue from another file all need it.

The numbers are drawn into the pages as real content, so they print and they survive being emailed. Everything already on the page stays exactly where it was — nothing is shifted to make room.
Questions about Add Page Numbers
- Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
- Yes, and you can also skip pages. A report whose cover should stay unnumbered while the body starts at 1 is two settings: leave the cover out of the range and set the start number to 1.
- Where can the number go?
- Any of the standard positions along the top or bottom of the page. Pick the corner that is actually empty in your document — the thumbnails are there so you can check rather than guess and re-run.
- What if the page already has a number?
- The new one is drawn on top; nothing is detected or replaced. If your pages already carry printed numbers, position the new one somewhere else, or the two will overlap. There is no way to remove existing printed numbers — they are part of the page.
