How to do it

Add the drawing as a DXF file. In AutoCAD, use Save As and choose a DXF format; LibreCAD, DraftSight, FreeCAD, SketchUp and Fusion export DXF too.

Questions about DXF to PDF
- Can I convert a DWG file?
- Not directly. Save it as DXF first — every CAD program can, including AutoCAD (Save As → DXF), and the free DWG TrueView from Autodesk converts DWG to DXF.
- What is kept?
- Lines, polylines with arcs, circles, arcs, ellipses, splines, filled solids, points, single-line and multi-line text, block references with their scale and rotation, dimensions and layer colors. Frozen and hidden layers stay hidden. Hatch fills, images and 3D surfaces aren't drawn yet — the result tells you when a drawing had any.
- Is the PDF to scale?
- It is fitted to the page, not printed at a set scale, so measurements on paper won't match a ruler. The proportions and every dimension label are exact.
