How to do it

There is nothing to configure. A built-in PDF copy is used when the file has one; otherwise the document is rebuilt from its own text, tables and pictures.

Questions about Pages to PDF
- How can this work without Apple software?
- An iWork file is a zip archive. Older files carry a ready-made PDF copy inside, and we hand that over exactly as saved. Newer Pages and Numbers files do not, so we read the document itself — text, formatting, lists, tables and pictures — and set it on clean pages.
- What if a file can't be converted?
- Newer Keynote presentations and damaged files can't be read here yet. Open the file for free at icloud.com — it works on Windows too — and download a copy as PDF. We say so plainly rather than hand you an empty document.
- Can I edit the result?
- Not as a Pages document; you get a PDF, which is a finished page. You can still annotate it, sign it or fill its fields with the tools here. For real editing you need Pages itself, or its free version at iCloud.com.
