Questions about PDF to RTF
- Why RTF instead of Word?
- Because RTF opens everywhere, including on machines with no Office at all — WordPad on Windows and TextEdit on macOS both read it out of the box. It is the safest choice when you do not know what the other person has installed.
- Will my Turkish, Arabic or Chinese text survive?
- Yes. Every non-ASCII character is encoded in the way RTF requires, which is exactly where naive converters fail and hand you a page of question marks. It is worth checking one line of your own text after any conversion, from any tool.
- Does it look the same as the PDF?
- No, and no converter can promise that. A PDF is a fixed page; an RTF is flowing text that reshapes itself to the window and the printer. Headings, paragraphs and emphasis come across; exact positions, columns and page breaks do not.
