How to do it

  1. 1

    Add your file

Add the PDF that will not open, opens blank, or throws an error in your reader. This works on structural damage, which is more common than people expect.

  2. 2

Set it up the way you want

Nothing to configure. The file structure is rebuilt: the cross-reference table that tells a reader where everything lives is reconstructed from what is actually in the file.

  3. 3

    Download the result

Download the repaired copy and open it. If the pages come back, the damage was structural and it is fixed.

Questions about Repair PDF

What kind of damage can this actually fix?
Structural damage — a broken cross-reference table, a truncated ending, an object index that no longer matches the file. That covers most files damaged by an interrupted download, a crash during save or a bad transfer.
What can it not fix?
Missing content. If the file was cut off halfway through a download, the second half of the document was never there and no repair can invent it. You will get back whatever survived, which is often more than nothing but not everything.
Is it worth trying before giving up?
Almost always, because it costs nothing and takes seconds. Your original is untouched, so a failed repair leaves you exactly where you started.
