How to do it

  1. 1

    Add your file

Add an .rtf document — saved from WordPad, TextEdit, an older word processor or exported by business software.

  2. 2

Set it up the way you want

Choose the paper size. Paragraphs, bold, italic, tables and accented characters are read from the file and set as real text.

  3. 3

    Download the result

Download the PDF, ready to email or archive, with text that can still be selected, searched and copied.

Questions about RTF to PDF

How do I open an RTF file on a phone?
Convert it here and open the PDF instead. Phones and tablets rarely display RTF well, but every one of them opens a PDF, and the conversion needs no app.
Are special characters kept?
Yes. Code pages and Unicode escapes inside the RTF are decoded, so Turkish, German, French and other accented letters come through exactly as they were typed.
What is not converted?
Embedded pictures, headers, footers and the exact page layout are not reproduced. The text, its emphasis and simple tables are, which is what most RTF files actually hold.
