- Do multi-page TIFFs work?
- Yes, page by page, and this is the point. A fax or an archive export is often one TIFF holding forty pages, and tools that read only the first page hand you a one-page PDF while appearing to have worked. Here every page comes through and nothing is dropped silently.
- Why convert at all — TIFF already opens.
- PDF opens everywhere. On a phone, in email preview or in an e-filing system, TIFF frequently does not, and multi-page TIFF almost never does. PDF is the format the other side can open without installing anything.
- Does the scan lose quality?
- The image data is carried into the PDF as it is. What changes is the container, not the picture. If you also need the file smaller afterwards, run Compress PDF, which is where the quality trade-off is made on purpose and visibly.
