Questions about Make all pages the same size
- Why does this matter?
- Presses and print shops take one page size per job. A document that grew by merging picks up a stray Letter page in an A4 file, or a landscape scan among portrait pages, and the job is either rejected or scaled by the printer in a way nobody checked.
- Why scale to fit instead of filling the page?
- Because filling means stretching, and a stretched page lies. A signature, a stamp, a company logo or a scaled drawing all carry meaning in their proportions. Fitting and centring leaves a margin instead, which is honest and reversible.
- How is the default size chosen?
- By counting: whichever size most of your pages already use becomes the target. That way the odd pages that came in from elsewhere are the ones that move, and the bulk of the document is left untouched.
