Questions about Split by size
- Should I split or compress?
- Compress first. A smaller single document is nearly always better than several parts, and Compress PDF takes a target size directly. Split when compression has already run and the file still will not fit, or when the limit is absolute.
- Why are the parts not all the same size?
- Because the cut has to fall between pages. A single page with a full-page photograph can be several megabytes on its own, so parts land under your limit rather than exactly on it.
- A single page is bigger than my limit.
- Then no split can help, because a page cannot be divided further. Compress the document first — that page almost certainly holds a large image, and reducing it is the only route.
