Questions about Export PDF form data
- Does it work on any PDF?
- It reads real form fields — the boxes you can click and type into. A scanned form or a flattened one has no fields left, only a picture of the answers; for those, use OCR and copy the text.
- How are checkboxes and lists written?
- In JSON a checkbox is true or false and a multi-select list is an array. In CSV a checkbox is TRUE or FALSE and several choices are separated by semicolons. XFDF uses the form's own export value, such as Yes or Off, so the data goes back into the same form unchanged.
- What if the forms are not all the same?
- The CSV takes every field that appears in any of them, in the order they first appear; a form without a field just leaves that cell empty. Each row starts with the file name so you can trace it back.
