A tutoring agreement is short, but it settles the questions that cause friction later: what a lesson costs, when it is paid, what happens when someone cancels, and how lessons are held. Fill it in with the parent or student before the first lesson.

3. Cancellations
A lesson canceled with at least __________ notice will be rescheduled or not charged. A lesson canceled with less notice, or missed, is charged in full. If the Tutor cancels, the lesson is rescheduled or not charged.
4. Conduct and Safety
Where the Student is a minor, a parent or guardian will be at home, or reachable, during in-person lessons. Online lessons are not recorded unless both the Tutor and the Client agree in writing.
5. Results
The Tutor will teach with reasonable skill and care but cannot guarantee a particular grade or result.
6. Ending the Agreement
Either side may end this Agreement at any time by written notice. Fees paid for lessons not yet held will be refunded.

Keep it simple and clear
Most tutoring disputes are about cancellations and prepayment. Settle both in writing.
- State the cancellation window in hours, not “reasonable notice”.
- Say what happens to prepaid lessons if either side stops.
- Agree in advance whether online lessons may be recorded.
