Nanny and babysitter agreement template
A nanny agreement sets out what a family and a caregiver expect from each other before the first day: the schedule, the pay, the duties, the house rules and how either side can end the arrangement. Written down, those expectations are easier to keep.
This template is a general starting point, not legal advice. Laws differ between countries and states, so have it checked before signing anything important.

Employment and tax rules still apply
A regular nanny is usually the family’s household employee. In the United States, household employer rules — minimum wage, overtime and payroll taxes, described in IRS Publication 926 — can apply above certain annual pay. Check the current rules where you live before the first payday.
- Agree the pay in writing, including how extra hours are paid.
- Keep a simple record of hours worked and payments made.
- Share allergy, medical and emergency information in writing, and keep it current.
