Resignation letter template
A resignation letter puts your notice on record: who is leaving, from which role, and on what day. This one is short and professional, and it includes an acknowledgment block so your employer can confirm the date they received it — useful if your notice period is ever questioned.
This template is a general starting point, not legal advice. Laws differ between countries and states, so have it checked before signing anything important.

Before you send it
A resignation is hard to take back once it is on record, so check the details first.
- Check your contract or handbook for the notice period and count your last day from the date the letter is received.
- Keep it short. Reasons, complaints and negotiations belong in a conversation, not in the notice.
- Keep a signed copy. The acknowledgment block records the date your employer received it.
