Compress a PDF for USAJOBS
USAJOBS takes resumes and supporting documents up to 5 MB each. Transcripts, DD-214s and SF-50s scanned as photos are what usually go over. The target is set to 4.5 MB so the upload goes through on the first try.

Before you upload to USAJOBS
- Upload the resume as a PDF: USAJOBS recommends it so the formatting and page count stay as you wrote them.
- Remove any password from the file before uploading. Protected documents are not accepted.
- Scan transcripts in grayscale at 200–300 dpi; color photos of paper are the usual reason a file is too large.

Compression shrinks images. A long file that is mostly text can stay above the limit; these get it through.
